Male pedestrian, 60s, 'seriously injured' in Cork road crash passes away

Although the road was temporarily closed for a technical examination, it has since reopened

A pedestrian involved in a road traffic collision has passed away at Cork University Hospital, say Gardaí.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian at Upper Cork Hill, Youghal, Co Cork, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at approximately 6:20pm.

The male pedestrian, aged in his 60s, who was seriously injured in the collision, was brought to Cork University Hospital, but is confirmed to have since passed away.

The local Coroner has been notified of the death, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Although the road was temporarily closed for a technical examination, it has since reopened.

Gardaí are urging any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area between 6:00 pm and 6:30 pm are asked to provide this footage to Gardaí.
