According to the airport's website, "any oversized garments, which may conceal additional items or the outline of your person, will have to be removed for Security screening. Please remove the top, be it an over-sized hoodie, jumper, jacket or sweater and place in the tray for screening."
Social media users appeared confused by the announcement with several replying to the post with follow-up questions.
One user asked, "so, if I'm wearing a hoodie with just a bra underneath do I still have to remove my hoodie?"
In response, Dublin Airport replied: "All passengers should be prepared to remove their hoodie when they reach security screening."
A later post from the airport's account clarified that "private screenings/hand searches can be an option too”.
Regarding the enforcement of the rule that has surprised many, Dublin Airport said that “regulations have been tightened recently regarding this”.
The original post has been viewed over 130,000 views and racked up almost 90 comments with social media users struggling to make sense of the announcement.
We've seen worse. We've even seen Liverpool jerseys.

I always wear a hoodie when flying and never, not once, have I been told it has to be removed.

So, when I try to defeat airline charges and wear half my suitcase, hope security have the time for me to undress and take off 5 jumpers , 3t shirts and 2 coats

This is absolute nonsense. Passengers are already removing belts, shoes, jewellery etc.

May as well go through security in the nip at this stage!
Seriously?!

In 2024
So what’s the point of the scanners if this is happening?
— N (@NeewWorldLeader) February 2, 2024
Please please please filter this information through airlines so more passengers are prepared and delays/drama/comments section in real life is minimised

What is the reason for this enhanced (and utterly ridiculous) step? Don’t the security frisk you anyway if you beep going through the gate? What has happened for things to change ? Especially as other airports are doing all they can to reduce screening

This is rather bizarre. Making the airport experience ever more painful tbh.
