Four houses a blaze in rural town

Fire service called out to blaze in Limerick village

EIGHT units from the Limerick Fire and Rescue Service are tending a blaze, this Friday evening in County Limerick.

A number of houses are on fire, at Glenma, Croom, to where services were dispatched at 5:03pm this November 3.

It is understood that an initial house fire has now spread over a number of properties in Glenma.

At this time there are no reports of injuries.

A total of eight units have been sent to the scene of the fire, two from Rathkeale, three from Kilmallock and one each from Newcastle West, Cappamore and the city.

Minister for State Niall Collins, TD, is at the scene of the blaze in Croom with Fianna Fáil local election candidate, Trina O’Dea. Mr Collins said up to four properties - two council owned and two privately owned - have been severely damaged.

“Myself and Trina O’Dea will be assisting families to access emergency accommodation through Limerick City and County Council. We will be helping the affected families afterwards with humanitarian assistance,” said Mr Collins.
