Tributes are being paid to a young Waterford man who has died just weeks after saving a number of tourists from tragedy in the River Suir.
Mark James Ryan, 41, formerly of Priory Lawn, Ballybeg, Waterford, died on Thursday and is predeceased by his parents Mary and Liam.
He will be "sadly missed by his loving daughter Lauren, son Jordan, sisters Claire, Lynda and Aoife, brother John, Ciara, Hayley, stepson David,aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends," an RIP notice says.
Mark's untimely death comes just weeks after he bravely saved a number of tourists who had fallen into the River Suir.
Hundreds of people have been paying tribute to him this week.
"Rip Mark, a good friend and a true legend of Ballybeg. Hope you found peace. My condolences to his family and loved ones, gone but never forgotten," one friend wrote.
Another tribute read: "We are devastated to hear of the loss of Mark. Mark always had a lovely smile, great nature, a gentleman, a beautiful person just like your lovely mum Mary. She will look after him and she will look after you all."
A third added: "Mark, you were an absolute gent, always had time for a smile and a chat, a genuinely decent fella, condolences to all the family. Rest in Peace."
Funeral Arrangements:
Reposing at Thompsons Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Waterford on Monday (23rd of October) from 7 pm to 8:30 pm with vigil prayers and rosary at 8 pm.
Requiem Mass on Tuesday in St. Saviours Church, Ballybeg at 10 am followed by burial in St. Otteran’s Cemetery.
