A major search operation began at a house and surrounding grounds in Youghal on Tuesday.
A man in his 50s was arrested following the discovery.
Ms Satchwell, originally from Fermoy, was 45 when last seen alive, and has been missing from her home in Youghal since March 2017.
It is believed the body was discovered in what is understood to be an alcove under a staircase in the hallway of Ms Satchwell’s home on Grattan Street in the centre of the seaside town of Youghal.
Gardaí are understood to have received new and significant information in recent days which led to the investigation being upgraded to a murder case.
