Phoebe - Laois Nose
Hello! My name is Phoebe and I am very proud to be representing County Laois in the Nose of Tralee final! Can you believe that a little puppy like me has made it to the last 32 contestants!
Firstly I'd like to thank the judges for selecting me as a finalist and also for my package of yummy treats and snazzy sash! I personally think it's a great idea to have to wear a sash for the final photo - it's difficult to get a winner-worthy picture and the more failed photos equals more bribing with treats!
I am 6 years old and a puggle/terrier cross. I have a lot of beagle traits, mainly being exceptionally adorable, funny, mischievous, friendly, intelligent and most of all greedy! I'm brown and white with a wrinkly forehead, velvet soft ears, freckles on my legs, and a white-tipped tail! It's amazing how white I keep my tail considering I am always up to no good scavenging in the hedges and neighbours' gardens! My humans adore me and I am one spoilt pup living in the lap of luxury.
When I'm not snoring on the couch you will find me keeping watch over the neighbourhood from the kitchen window sill. From here, I alert the humans to any passing cars, walkers and most importantly birds! Some of my other favourite pastimes include snatching forbidden objects, ignoring commands, going on walkies, having my ears scratched and begging for food! I can sit and lie down, but only if there are treats involved! I hate thunder and heavy rain and I like to hide in the hot press during bad weather! I also hate having a shower and going in the car for reasons unknown! I am super intuitive and I always know when the humans are planning a car journey with me before they have even gathered their thoughts or keys! Usually I will run off and hide in the garden at these times to make it hard to capture me!
I love to eat more than anything and will happily taste anything and everything on offer! In fact, I like to live by the motto "If it's reachable, it's eatable"! I am even known to trick the humans into thinking I have never ever been fed, often resulting in 2 dinners!
I am the most loyal and loveable companion and bring so much joy and laughter to my family. My birthday is in August and winning the 2023 Nose Of Tralee would be the best present ever, unless of course someone was to give me a bowl of chicken *hint hint*! I'd love to be crowned the winner not only for the obvious reasons above, but because I represent what sniffers are all about - finding the exact location and proximity of the nearest crumb!
