People of Mayo urged to nominate local Red Cross Volunteer Awards.

Volunteers can be nominated across eight categories for the Irish Red Cross Volunteer Awards.

The people of Mayo are being encouraged to nominate their local Irish Red Cross volunteer for a National Volunteer Award 2025. This nomination opening allows a chance for the outstanding volunteers of the Irish Red Cross in Mayo to be recognised for the work they do.

Deirdre Garvey, Secretary General of Irish Red Cross says the volunteers are the people that show up.

"They show up for the big moments – like supporting families in Creeslough, helping flood victims in Cork, or reaching isolated communities during Storm Éowyn. But they also show up for the ordinary Tuesday evenings, teaching first aid in community halls, delivering groceries to elderly neighbours, or providing first aid cover at the local football match.”

She added that the awards are a great opportunity to show up for them.

“These awards recognise the people who give their time, their skills and their hearts to make Ireland a kinder place – without ever asking for thanks in return."
