The Ballinrobe woman was the highest-placed Irish rider in the competition and also secured an FEI Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) for this summer’s European Championships.

A young woman from Mayo has made her international debut for Ireland at the Wellington International Dressage Show in the UK.

Eighteen-year-old Rebecca McGrath, of Ballyjennings Stables, Ballinrobe, and her 14-year-old mare, Summersong Caledonia, achieved a top-ten finish in the Junior Team International class. Rebecca was the highest-placed Irish rider in the competition and also secured an FEI Minimum Eligibility Requirement (MER) for this summer’s European Championships.

Following her success in the UK, Rebecca travelled to Hagen, Germany, to compete at the prestigious Hagen International, where she faced riders from across Europe, the United States, and beyond.

Competing against some of the world's leading dressage riders, Rebecca and Summersong Caledonia earned impressive scores of 65% and 66% from the international judging panel.

Rebecca is trained by her mother, Sinead McGrath, an international dressage rider, and supported by her father, Fintan McGrath, a former jockey who now breeds and develops young horses for elite competition.
