Freya and Holly Renton led the Sacred Heart junior team to All-Ireland victory

There was great joy for the Renton twins from Westport on Saturday, when they led the Sacred Heart junior team to victory at the All Ireland Schools Cross Country Championships.

In a bitterly cold and muddy Tallaght, Freya Renton finished at the head of the field with her sister Holly winning bronze.

They were split up by Emma Haugh from St Flannan's in Ennis.

Joining the Rentons on the winning Sacred Heart team were Erin Walsh and Eimear Jennings, who both contributed handsomely to the victory.

The Rentons' superb performances secured their spots on the Irish Schools’ team, who will compete in a four-nations international event in the coming weeks.

Having just started second year in Sacred Heart Westport, the speedy twins have taken the local and national athletics scene by storm.
