There were scenes of great delight in Ballina on Saturday when Ardagh captured the Division 3 league title after a deserved 2-7 to 0-7 win over Ardnaree.
James Carr was the star of the show with 2-4 to his name and he was well-supported by his brother Brendan at midfield alongside the excellent Stephen Rochford and wing-forward Enda O'Hora.
Ardnaree never played the football they're capable of and were five adrift at half time, 0-4 to 2-3, despite fine points from John Timlin and Ethan Convey.
James Carr kicked all of Ardagh's first half scores and his two goals came at crucial times, the first after five minutes and the second just before half time.
Lee Traynor and Kevin Moran landed excellent Ardagh points early in the new half but Timlin and Jonathan Doherty kept Ardnaree in the hunt.
However, try as they might, the men in gold and green couldn't get back into it and even when Chris Walsh found the space to shoot for goal, TJ McFadden pulled off a fine save.
The final whistle unleashed scenes of great delight among the Ardagh supporters as they celebrated a famous win in the Ballina sunshine.
