Lacken's rugby hero Caelan Doris wrote another chapter in Mayo sporting annals when he was named Man of the Match in tonight's Nations Series match against Italy in Dublin.
The former Ballina RFC youth player turned in a superb display at openside flanker and got over the line for two tries in Ireland's 33-17 win over a game and gallant Italian side.
Doris, who came through the ranks in Ballina, is an inspiration to up and coming players all across Mayo according to Ballina RFC chairman, Alan Rowe.
"We're so proud of Caelan here in the club and we can all say that one of the best rugby players in the entire world is from Lacken. That's inspirational for all Mayo sportspeople and we're all really excited about seeing him in action in the World Cup in the coming weeks."
