As part of Mayo County Council Arts Service Bealtaine Programme, ‘A Cultural Companions Conversation’ took place at The Ellison Hotel, Castlebar on May 27.

The event welcomed both new and existing members of the Mayo Cultural Companions Network for an evening of connection and community building.

The event began with an icebreaker, which gave participants the chance to get to know one another. The event allowed participants to share the future development of the Cultural Companions Network in Mayo.

Conversations at the event included highlighting the importance of being part of a community and reinforced the positive impact that arts and cultural participation can have on wellbeing as we age.

Mayo County Council Arts Service extended its appreciation to all who attended and contributed to the success of the event.

Cultural Companions is an Age & Opportunity Arts Initiative, comprising a network of older people interested in arts and culture who attend events together as a group. The Mayo Cultural Companions programme aims to increase opportunities for older people to engage with Mayo’s vibrant arts and cultural scene.

Cultural Companions is supported by Mayo County Council Arts Service and Mayo Age Friendly, and funded by Healthy Mayo. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.
