Mayo cinemas to offer €4 tickets for National Cinema Weekend

Cinemas across the county will join the nationwide celebration, with reduced-price tickets and a wide selection of films on offer
Movie fans across Mayo will be able to enjoy the big-screen experience for less next weekend as cinemas around the county take part in National Cinema Weekend 2026.
The two-day celebration takes place on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6, with participating Mayo cinemas offering tickets from just €4 throughout the weekend.
The initiative is supported by Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland and follows the huge success of previous National Cinema Days, which attracted more than 200,000 admissions in a single day.
The initiative has been extended to a full weekend this year, giving audiences the opportunity to see multiple films at reduced prices.
The Irish cinema industry is using the event to celebrate the enduring popularity of going to the movies. Ireland has one of the highest rates of cinema attendance per capita in Europe.
Alex Murphy and Chris Walley, stars of The Young Offenders, which is being re-released to mark its 10th anniversary during National Cinema Weekend, said there was “nothing like the magic of going to the movies”.
Screen Ireland Chief Executive Désirée Finnegan said the organisation was proud to support the initiative and hoped audiences would use the weekend to discover new Irish stories on the big screen.
Tickets can be purchased online and at participating cinema box offices from 5pm on Sunday, August 30.
Mayo audiences are advised to check their local cinema listings for participating screenings and ticket availability. Full details are also available at National Cinema Weekend website.
