Road user in Mayo caught travelling almost 60km/h over the limit

A driver on the N60, Manulla road, was caught travelling at 138km/h in an 80km/h zone this Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

An Garda Síochána conducted an extensive Roads Policing Operation, which was in place from 7am on Thursday, April 2, until 7 am this morning, Tuesday, April 7, to ensure road safety during the Bank Holiday weekend.

In addition to high speeds, Gardaí also detected over 290 drivers using their mobile phones and a further 95 not wearing seatbelts.

An Garda Síochána is continuing its appeal to all users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, to slow down and to always choose a speed that is appropriate to the driving conditions, to wear your seatbelt and keep your eyes always on the road.
