Mayo County Council has issued a statement following north Mayo councillor Neil Cruise’s calls for the publication of safety upgrade plans for a pedestrian crossing in Foxford.
The Fine Gael councillor recently raised the issue on social media, stating that he holds Transport Infrastructure Ireland and Mayo County Council “responsible for accidents and injuries at this pedestrian crossing, due to their inordinate delay in taking corrective action.”

In a statement issued to The Mayo News, Mayo County Council said: “Mayo County Council is planning to submit the project’s Design Report and Road Safety Audit to TII for approval in the coming weeks. Assuming TII approval is granted, Mayo County Council will thereafter commence the Section 38 public consultation process.”
The proposed plans form part of the Section 38 process, which requires a period of public consultation before any works can proceed.
