An Garda Síochána in Mayo detect high speeds across the county

This comes as part of their ongoing Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign, targeting a number of road safety issues

 An Garda Síochána Mayo detect high speeds across the county

As the St Patrick’s Day celebrations are well underway, so is the work of An Garda Síochána Mayo.

The Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out speed checks on the N5 and N17 yesterday, (March, 15) as part of their ongoing Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign targeting drink and drug driving, speeding, mobile phone use, and the non-wearing of seatbelts.

An Garda Síochána Mayo detected motorists travelling above the 100km/hr speed limit by over 40 km/hr, resulting in an €160 fine and three penalty points. 

An Garda Síochána Mayo said their message remains clear: Do not drink or drug drive, slow down, and avoid distractions.
