One of West Mayo’s postmen is set to retire today after 25 years service.

Davy O’Toole from Doughmakeon in Louisburgh will spend the last day of 2025 delivering post on his native patch.

Davy has spent his whole life working with people but he also had a great passion for animals, while working with horses was his greatest love.

He will now have ample time to pursue his many hobbies and will even get to enjoy more time following his favourite sport, rugby. Davy will be missed in the postal service, especially by all his colleagues in Westport DSU, for his wit and fun comments. The staff in Westport wish Davy all the best with his retirement.
