People travelling to and from one of Mayo's most iconic locations are advised to expect delays as works in the area are set to stretch into next week.

Mayo County Council have stated that, until Friday, December 12, a portion of the R-319 on Achill Island is set to undergo drainage works.

The Council have also asked people to allow extra time on their travels, as traffic management will be in place.

The drainage works will be taking place between Achill Sound and Mulranny.
