Christmas is coming into focus in Mayo and the lights are going to be switched on all around the county come the end of the weekend.

Ballyhaunis:
Don't miss the Ballyhaunis Christmas lights switch on: Sunday, November 30 at 5pm on The Square. The Christmas market stalls open at 1pm and the crib blessing is taking place at 4.30pm.
There will also be a kiddies tractor & wheels light run on Sunday, November 30, at 3.45pm on Knox Street. Bring your favourite push or pedal tractor or wheels. Note: Strictly no motorised wheels or electric scooters! Open to kids of all ages but adult supervision required.
Castlebar:
The switching on of the Castlebar Christmas lights was postponed from Friday to Saturday, due to the weather warning in place.
The event is now set taking place at Market Square on Saturday, November 29, from 6 pm to 7 pm. Road closures around Market Square will begin at 5:50 pm.
Guests will be treated to enchanting music from the Castlebar Town Concert Band and the Mayo Children’s Chorus, while Celine King will captivate audiences with heartwarming Christmas storytelling.
Keep an eye out for special guests and festive characters roaming the square, including the mischievous Grinch, and enjoy seasonal treats as you soak up the holiday spirit.
Claremorris:
The Christmas lights are turned on in Claremorris on Sunday, November 30. At 2pm on the Square. .
Pádraig O’Hora will be joining to switch on the Claremorris 2025 Christmas Lights! A fun-filled festive afternoon. The Elf Hunt begins at 2pm.
Enjoy entertainment and activities all through the day. A perfect family day out to kick off the Christmas season!
Killala:
Get into the festive spirit at the Killala Christmas Market & Santa’s Grotto on Saturday, November 29.
The event takes place at the Killala Community Centre from 4pm to 6.30pm, offering a wonderful opportunity for holiday shopping and for children to visit Santa. Those interested in booking a stall for the market should contact Avril directly on 0876406464.

Westport:
Christmas Markets at Gracy's Westport Adventure. Celebrate the season at the Westport Estate Christmas Markets, where festive cheer fills the air and the Estate comes alive with the magic of Christmas.
The Markets will be open this weekend from 11am to 4pm Saturday & Sunday.
