Road Safety Authority welcomes investment in Ireland’s transport network

The RSA has welcomed the government's announcement of significant investment in Ireland’s transport network.

Sam Waide, CEO of RSA says: "Particularly the commitment to maintaining and improving the safety of our national, regional and local roads. This level of investment represents an important opportunity to reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roads."

The RSA point out the tragic loss of life in recent weeks has devastated families and communities across Ireland. It is a stark reminder that safer roads save lives. Every decision we make about infrastructure must keep that reality at its core.

The focus on safer road design, protection and renewal of existing roads, improved maintenance and investment in active travel infrastructure will play a vital role in reducing risk for all road users — drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.

Road safety is a shared responsibility. While investment alone will not solve every challenge, it creates the conditions for progress. This investment strengthens the foundations for a safer future, but every journey taken on our roads still depends on the choices we make as individuals.
