The Tourism Section of Mayo County Council are delighted to announce a brand-new ‘Mayo Moments’ photography competition.

Photography enthusiasts are invited to unleash their creativity by submitting photographs of their favourite ‘Mayo Moments’.

Those moments could be a favourite place, walk, event, heritage location or landscape and be in with a chance of featuring in the 2027 Mayo Moments Tourism Calendar. Photos can be anything from a winter coastline to events and festivals, or summer colours, walking trails, or your favourite hidden place in Mayo.

Selected winning photographs will feature in the 2027 Mayo Moments Tourism Calendar and those photos that make the calendar will also receive a €100 prize.

Whether you’re a professional or an enthusiastic smartphone photographer, the contest is open to all!

The competition will be divided into four seasons for submitting your photo(s): Winter season photographs: Entries from November 13 2025 to January 30 2026, Spring photographs:  February 1 2026 to April 30 2026, Summer photographs: May 1 2026 to July 31 2026, Autumn photographs: August 1 to October 23 2026

Entries for each season must be taken inside the outlined season time period and be received by the specified end date. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.

Maura Murphy, Tourism Officer for Mayo County Council said: “This initiative invites photographers of all levels to capture the stunning landscapes, vibrant communities and unique spirit of County Mayo. “The winning images will be featured in the 2027 Mayo Moments Tourism Calendar, which will showcase Mayo’s beauty to visitors near and far”.

Entrants are being asked to submit their winter season photos to tourismsection@mayococo.ie for the first part of this competition. Please check www.mayo.ie  for full details and criteria.
