A Mayo initiative which enables the elderly to explore their creative side through painting is due to take centre stage in Turlough Park next Friday, November 7.
Founded in 2009, Hearth is a unique arts programme that brings creativity directly into the homes of older people who are isolated or housebound for a variety of reasons.
At the heart of the programme is a weekly one-to-one workshop facilitated by a skilled artist, tailored to each individual in the comfort of their own home.
Hearth envisions a world where everyone, regardless of age or circumstance, can explore their creativity.
This exhibition celebrates the transformative power of the arts to uplift the human spirit at every stage of life.
In total, 14 participants share their artwork alongside pieces created by the Hearth artists and mentors, highlighting the rich and collaborative journey of the project.
In 2024 and 2025, Hearth has received generous support from Creative Ireland, Arts and Health, and the Mayo County Council Arts Service.
The exhibition will be officially launched by Minister Dara Calleary on Friday, November 7.
