Mayo’s ATU students will take part in a nationwide student walkout, which will take place on Wednesday, October 22, at midday.

Students across all Technological Universities in Ireland will take part in coordinated action calling for fairness, equality, and parity of funding within the TU sector following the latest Budget.

The Students’ Unions of the Technological Universities across Ireland are asking for the implementation of a full TU Borrowing Framework, allowing all Technological Universities access to capital funding from the central Government for the construction of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation. 

Additionally, they are seeking an increase in Postgraduate Stipend Funding to ensure payment of the full €25,000 research stipend.

Students’ Unions of the Technological Universities are also seeking full implementation and funding of Professorships within the Technological University sector, with resourcing from the central GovernmenIncreased core funding is also being sought for courses taught through the medium of Irish, along with amendments to the Technological Universities Act.
