Mayo's Beyond Surviving and Leave No Trace are nominated for awards at the prestigious National Social Enterprise Awards on Wednesday, 15 October.

Beyond Surviving is a finalist under category 'Startup Social Enterprise'.

Castlebar woman Ciara Mangan founded the organisation in 2023 and has campaigned for changes to the justice system.

Beyond Surviving is a survivor-led organisation that offers services including connection, self-advocacy, healing support and empowerment.

Speaking to The Mayo News, Ciara Mangan said it is "an honour to just be even recognized for this award, and to be alongside the other fantastic social enterprises. Regardless of any of the outcomes, it's just privilege to be included."

"It's been really lovely just to see the hard work that I've been putting in behind the scenes just come to fruition and be recognised."

Ms Mangan said the aim of Beyond Surviving is “really extending and complementing the already existing Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence services. We're really targeting survivors and victims who have progressed beyond crisis. So that means that a lot of them would have already accessed rape crisis centre organisations, for example.”

Earlier this summer, she spoke at the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women on behalf of the organisation.

Fresh from winning the 2025 Small Charity, Big Impact Award at the Charities Institute Ireland (CII) Charity Excellence Awards in the last couple of weeks, Westport-based Leave No Trace is nominated in the Climate and the Environment category.

"At Leave No Trace Ireland, we believe that protecting our environment and promoting responsible outdoor practices can go hand-in-hand with creating positive social impact. Being recognized as a finalist celebrates our commitment to educating communities, empowering volunteers, and fostering a sustainable future for Ireland’s outdoors for all," Maura Kiely, CEO Leave No Trace told The Mayo News.
