The event was a key part of the Mayo Road Safety Offices, education and promotion of road safety awareness during Road Safety Week 2025, which ran from Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12. The event also promoted healthy lifestyles and community engagement in older members of the county’s population.
At the event presentations were delivered by a number of guest speakers including, the Mayo Road Safety Office, Mayo Sports Partnership, Mayo Fire Service, Local Link Mayo, An Garda Siochana.
These presentations informed the attendees on the importance of road safety, home fire safety, stay active while aging along with information on the new and enhanced routes provided by Local Link Mayo.
The event aimed to empower older members of the community to feel confident, active, and drive safely and inform them of public transport options – so they can maintain their independence, safety, and quality of life as they age.
