Mayo GAA and Mayo Cancer Support are organising the 'Brave the Drop Croke Park Abseil Challenge' tomorrow (Friday, October 10).
Crossmolina Deel Rovers senior footballer Jordan Flynn has shared a message online, urging people to support the charity fundraiser:
"It's a flagship fundraiser by our charity partner the Mayo Cancer Support Association. Any donations will be greatly appreciated," Flynn said.
The Brave the Drop challenge this Friday challenges people to undertake a sponsored 150ft abseil from the roof of Croke Park in Dublin, with all monies raised supporting the delivery of free support services by Mayo Cancer Support to local people affected by cancer.
The event website states, that one hundred people have since signed up to “brave the drop” and the fundraiser has already reached almost €240,000.
Donations to the Mayo Cancer Support Association can be made here.
The Mayo Cancer Support Association have their own premises, Rock Rose House, at 32 St Patrick’s Avenue (opposite Mayo University Hospital) and they also operate outreach centres in Ballina and Achill.
They work with patients/survivors and their families and friends of all ages, to help ease their cancer journey with a range of therapies and emotional supports on an individual or group basis. All of the services the Mayo Cancer Support Association provides are available free of charge.
