Ashford Castle in Cong, Mayo, was high in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards ranking
Yet again, Ashford Castle is celebrating a prestigious honour after being named in the top 15 of the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Mayo venue is renowned both in the county and beyond for the breathtaking setting, five-star service, and first-rate quality across the board from the second you walk through the door.
Now, it is getting recognition on the continental stage. The rankings, from the Britain-based travel publication Condé Nast, placed Ashford Castle as the 15th-best venue in Europe.
Over 757,000 votes were cast in the 38th edition of the awards.
"We loved poring over the results to find out what’s sticking with readers and editors and spinning the data into a snapshot of the current moment in travel,” editors said when detailing their process.
Six Irish hotels made it into the top 20 ranking, accounting for 30 per cent of the highest rated venues.
Sheen Falls, located in Kenmare, Co Kerry, topped the list overall, with Ashford Castle ranked as the fifth-best Irish hotel.
