The Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary TD, visited the Intreo Work and Skills recruitment fair which took place at the Clew Bay Hotel, Westport on Monday September 29.
The Minister met with employers and jobseekers at the event which was hosted by the Department of Social Protection as part of its nationwide Intreo Work and Skills initiative.
A range of local and regional employers took part in today’s hospitality recruitment event in Westport, including The Westport Hotel Group, Clew Bay Hotel, The Wyatt Hotel, Westport Woods, and The Grace - Westport Estate.
There were 100s of jobs on offer, including roles for managers, chefs, receptionists, porters, bar staff and spa therapists.
The events are part of the Department’s Intreo Work and Skills campaign which commences today, with a wide variety of recruitment and information events taking place across the country over the next 2 weeks. In addition to meeting with employers at these events, jobseekers will also have the opportunity to find out more about training, upskilling and placement options available to support their career.

Commenting on the visit to Westport, Minister Calleary said:
“I was delighted to visit the event at the Clew Bay Hotel and to see such a positive atmosphere throughout the day. These events provide an important platform to bring employers together with people who are actively seeking job opportunities, as well as highlighting the range of employment supports and services available from my Department.
It was also great to meet with staff from my Department at the event and I want to thank them for their continued dedication and support.
