West Mayo Community Group ready to plan for future

A meeting will take place in the Liscarney community centre at 8 pm on Monday, September 29 to elect a steering committee to oversee and identify priority projects.

One community just outside Westport is about to embark on an exciting journey where local people will get together to foster strong connections, share resources and create a working vibrant environment for all in their collective areas.

‘Brackloon Hinterland Communities’ recently came together to begin a program with ‘Mayo Community Futures’ which has been successful in many other areas across Mayo.

The Community includes the villages of Ardoley, Barraglanna, Boleybrian, Bofara, Boheh, Cloona, Croft Mountain, Farnaught, Faburren, Killeennacoff, Knappagh More, Knappagh Managh, Knockaraha, Liscarney, Laghloon, Owenwee, Prospect, Tawnynameeltoge and Teevenacroaghy. The ‘Community Futures’ initiative will help combine and strengthen the already strong community spirit across all those areas and will help identify and progress priority needs and projects in the area.

A meeting will take place in the Liscarney community centre at 8 pm on Monday, September 29 to elect a steering committee to oversee and identify priority projects following consultation with each household in the area as to what would enhance the area as a place to live and work.

It is vital that as many as possible attend this meeting so all areas of the Community are represented so we can begin our "Community Futures" initiative.
