Mayo University Hospital recorded a hike in the latest Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation 'Trolley Watch' figures.
The significant hike in 'Trolley Watch' figures over the weekend in Mayo University Hospital shows little signs of abating, as the figures have continued to trend upwards today (Tuesday, September 16).
Yesterday, the statistics from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation showed a large spike in those waiting for beds in the Castlebar facility, as the total number went up from 14 to 25.
Today has seen a further increase in those figures.
On Monday, the number of patients awaiting treatment in MUH's Emergency Department stood at ten. Today, the figure has risen by four to 14.
There has also been a slight increase in those waiting to be seen elsewhere in the department. Yesterday, 15 people were reported in the INMO stats, and that figure has risen by one in the last 24 hours to 16.
Overall, there has been a hike of five patients to 30 in total, up from 25.
The total sees Mayo University Hospital have the sixth-highest number of patients on the 'Trolley Watch' table with Letterkenny University Hospital (36 patients) and the Mater University Hospital in Dublin (24 patients) in fifth and seventh place respectively.
