Nevin's Newfield Inn in Newport and Mellett's Emporium in Swinford won Connacht Innovative Pub of the Year and Connacht Best Local Pub at the Irish Pub Awards respectively..
Mayo punters can rest assured knowing that they have some of the best pubs in the land, after two local bars won the provincial categories at this year's Irish Pub Awards.
The event, which endeavors to find some of the best pubs around the country, is seen as a badge of honour for those who are fortunate enough to receive honours, and this year is no different.
Over the year, potential winners are blind visited by a select judging panel, who vote based on a selection of criteria.
In 2025, the Connacht winner of Best Local Pub was Mellett's Emporium in Swinford. The venue on Market Street contains all the hallmarks of a traditional Irish pub, from the roaring fireplace to the friendly locals, and was a worthy winner.
The title of Connacht's most Innovative Pub, meanwhile, was awarded to Nevin's Newfield Inn. The popular bar, which sits just between Swinford and Achill, is a welcome respite for those meandering along the Wild Atlantic Way, and has received rave reviews for its warm atmosphere and fantastic food.
Both pubs will advance to the National Finals in each category, where the national winners and overall winner of the competition will be announced at the Gala Awards final on Wednesday, November 12, in The Round Room at the Mansion House, Dublin.
