The community of East Mayo town Swinford is in shock. Evan Irwin (18) died tragically yesterday, August 31.
"Our deepest condolences to the Irwin family on the loss of Evan, a former underage player with the club ", posted Swinford GAA on Monday afternoon.
"He will be very sadly missed by his team mates, coaches, club members and his many friends. May Evan rest in peace."
Evan will be fondly remembered by his loving and heartbroken parents Pat and Yvonne (née Fennell), cherished brother to Adam, Leah and Calum and wonderful grandson to Phillip and Eileen (née McDonnell).
He will be sadly missed by his parents, brothers, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, grandaunts, granduncles, cousins, Leah’s partner Andrew, relatives, kind neighbours, many friends especially those in his Darts Association and his beloved dogs Benny and Brandy.
Also, Cill Chómain GAA extended "our heartfelt sympathies to the Irwin family on the sad and untimely passing of Evan Irwin.
Evan played some underage football with our club and will always be remembered as a beautiful young lad, with a precious smile and a warm greeting for everyone he met. He brought joy to those around him both on and off the field."
Evan's remains will be reposing at Campbell’s Funeral Home, Swinford (Eircode – F12 YE00) on Tuesday evening from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock and at the residence of his grandparents Philip and Eileen Irwin, Lenarevagh, Glenamoy (Eircode – F26 VX96) on Wednesday evening from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock.
Funeral will arrive at St Paul’s Church, Glenamoy on Thursday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 2 o’clock followed by burial in Glenamoy Cemetery.
The Irwin Family Home will remain strictly private on Thursday morning and afternoon.
Live streaming of the Funeral Mass will be available for viewing on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock on McDonnell Funeral Directors Facebook page with all other funeral services available for viewing on Thursday evening at 8 o’clock.
