A red BMW car was seized across the Bank Holiday Weekend.
Across the bank holiday weekend, there were numerous road offences detected on Mayo roads.
When An Garda Síochána were carrying out a checkpoint in East Mayo, one vehicle tried to avoid the checkpoint but was stopped. The driver of the red BMW car was found to have no driving licence or insurance while the vehicle also had no working reverse gear. The vehicle was seized at the scene with court proceedings to follow.
Mayo Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checkpoints throughout Mayo, and one motorcyclist was found to be travelling at 130kph in a 100kph zone. As a result, that driver was issued with a fixed charge penalty notice consisting of three penalty points and a €160 fine.
