ALERT: Mayo Gardaí issue warning about access to Mayo tourist hotspot

Keem Bay is closed to the public for the remainder of this afternoon.

On the warmest day of summer 2025, hundreds of people are out and about travelling to the many wonderful beaches that Co Mayo has to offer.

But An Garda Síochána in Mayo have taken to social media this afternoon to warn the public not to travel to perhaps the most popular tourist destination in the county.

In the social media post, An Garda Síochána said: “KEEM BEACH CAR PARK FULL. PLEASE AVOID THE AREA!

We wish to inform the public that Keem Bay, Achill, is currently at full capacity, and access by vehicle is no longer possible. For safety reasons, and to avoid further congestion, we are asking people not to travel to Keem Beach today. Please consider visiting alternative destinations on Achill, or returning at a quieter time. Thank you for your cooperation and support.”
