New figures reveal that Mayo County Council built 165 social housing units in three years from 2022-2024.
These units made up 42% of its social housing targets.
2023 proved a particularly difficult year for the council’s building ambitions as its ‘Own Build’ units only made up 30% of the overall annual target. However, the 86 units built in 2024 achieved 56% of the 154 units planned for that year and may offer hope that delivery is being ramped up.

It did this by purchasing 85 turnkey properties.
