An Garda Síochána in Mayo arrested an individual travelling on the N17 as part of their patrols on the route due to the extra traffic en route to the Donegal International Rally.
The driver, who was also breaking the road’s speed limit, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

During the checks, a multitude of drivers were detected to have been speeding, with one driver detected driving at 140 kilometres per hour and another detected speeding 29 kilometers per hour over the legal limit.
Another driver saw their car impounded for failing to have insurance.
