Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 2, as the Islandeady Cycling Club, in collaboration with Westport AC, is all set to host its annual 5K and 10K walk/run event. Taking place at the picturesque Jack's Old Cottage in Islandeady, Castlebar (F23 AW97), in the heart of West Mayo, this year's charity run holds a special significance as the funds raised will be donated to the Islandeady Community Council and Islandeady GAA/LGFA.
The event promises a day of fitness, fun, and community spirit, and everyone is invited to participate, regardless of age or fitness level. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll, a steady jog, or a competitive run, the course allows participants to move at their own pace. Rest assured, the event is officially measured and licensed by Athletics Ireland, with chip timing for accurate results.
The Islandeady Fun Run will commence at 10am sharp on Saturday, August 2, starting and finishing at Jack's Old Cottage, Derrycooraune, Islandeady. The route spans 5km, taking participants on a scenic journey in a clockwise direction, culminating back at Jack's Cottage. Those opting for the 10km challenge will complete the route twice. Ample parking facilities will be available near Jack's Cottage, making it convenient for all attendees.
