There has been good news for the people of Mayo, as the Mayo Garda Division recorded the lowest number of burglaries anywhere in the country.
The figures, compiled from Central Statistics Office data by home security company PhoneWatch, have revealed that Mayo had 119 burglaries in 2024.

The figure means that Mayo had the best burglary rates nationwide, with the Donegal Garda Division coming in second with 136.
Nationwide, there were 9,728 burglaries, with Mayo making up 1.2 per cent of that total.
The good news kept coming for those in the county, with Mayo also recording the highest percentage drop in burglaries from the year prior.
Mayo saw a 33 percent drop in figures, with West Cork trailing with a 28 percent fall. Ten counties saw a fall, with 13 counties seeing a spike in burglaries. The number in Wexford remained the same.
On average, there was a two percent increase in burglaries across the country, with the highest number being recorded in Dublin.
