Mayo records lowest business closure rates in Ireland

A study has revealed that Mayo has the lowest rates of business closures nationwide in 2025.

The figures, which were compiled by business utility consultancy procure.ie, shows that Mayo has recorded the lowest number of closures per 100,000 people in the country, at 18.

In total, 25 businesses in Mayo have closed in the opening four months of the year.

The figure represents around 0.77 per cent of the total number of closures nationwide, which stands at over 3,250.

Mayo tops the list ahead of Kilkenny, where 21 closures were recorded per 100,000, and Offaly and Cavan, who both recorded 23 business closures for every 100,000 people.

In contrast, Dublin recorded the most business closures by some distance, with 1,765 closures in total since January, earning it a rate of 121 closures per 100,000.
