The popular Mayo venue Michael Davitt Museum is celebrating women in Irish history.

The next lecture scheduled for Thursday, May 8, is titled 'Through Women's Eyes: Two centuries of rebellion in Ireland'.

This talk will consider revolutionary moments from the United Irishmen, the Fenians, the Land League, the Easter Rising and the War of Independence.

What part did women play? What was the role of women like Mary Ann McCracken, Anna and Fanny Parnell, Alice Milligan, Maud Gonne, Constance Markievicz and the women of Cumann na mBan?

Dr Margaret Ward is a well-known feminist historian and Honorary Senior lecturer in History at Queen's University Belfast.
