Famous Norwegian musician set for Mayo gig

A Norwegian violinist will be hoping his version of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will be a hit with Mayo audiences as he brings his show to the county next month.

Henning Kraggerud, renowned composer and violinist, will be touching down in Newport on Saturday, April 12 for a rendition of the classic 18th-century piece.

Mr Kraggerud is well known in classical music circles, and performed his composition “A little Piece for Peace” along with Petter Richter at the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Gala Dinner in Oslo, as well as performing some of his work for the likes of the Norwegian Royal Family and Prime Minister.

The event in Mayo forms part of a trio of shows taking place around the country.

In between each ‘season’ included in his performance, Henning will be performing three of his own original pieces to audiences in Saint Patrick’s Church, Newport.

This will not be his first set of performances on Irish shores, having previously impressed audiences nationally last March with his interpretations of the work of Bach alongside the Irish Chamber Orchestra.

Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with Henning Kraggerud will take place in Saint Patrick’s Church, Newport on Saturday, April 12. Tickets can be purchased here.
