Ballina has been officially named as the host town for Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo 2025.

The north Mayo town will host the annual traditional Irish music and dancing competition from May 3-11, 2025.

Ballina has hosted the Mayo fleadh on several previous occasions and hosted the Connacht fleadh in 2023. A campaign is currently underway to bring the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann to the town in 2028.

Several events will take place in the buildup to this year’s Fleadh, including a special concert on April 19 and a launch event.

The fleadh will feature competitions, street performances, céilís, workshops, and lively sessions in local pubs and venues, ensuring an incredible atmosphere throughout Ballina.

Chairperson of Bofield CCÉ and the Mayo Fleadh Committee, Michael O’Donnell, expressed excitement about the announcement.

“Ballina has a proud tradition of Irish music, and we’re honoured to welcome musicians and visitors for the Mayo Fleadh,” he said. “This event is a celebration of culture, community, and creativity, and we can’t wait to showcase the best of Mayo’s musical talent.”

Mairéad Melody Carr, Manager of Mayo North Tourism said the event would provide ‘a fantastic boost for local businesses, accommodation providers, and the wider community’.

“Events like this drive tourism, support jobs, and create a vibrant atmosphere in the town. We encourage everyone to get involved and experience the energy that the Fleadh brings to Ballina,” said Ms Carr.

More details, including the full program of events for Fleadh Cheoil Mhaigh Eo will be announced soon.
