Loch Measc Distillery is delighted to announce its victory at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards Ireland 2025, where it secured the Gold Medal for Best Irish New Make & Young Spirit.
This remarkable achievement was celebrated at the awards ceremony just held at the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin.
Nestled on thoch Measc Distillery draws inspiration from its stunning surroundingse picturesque shores of Lough Mask in County Mayo, L to craft small-batch, high-quality spirits.
The award-winning new make spirit is characterised by its complex profile, featuring a spicy nose with fruit aromas, including notes of white pepper, red paprika, chilli, unripe bananas, apricots, and pear.
The Gold Medal was received by Niamh Seoige, General Manager of the distillery and a native of the area.

Speaking after the event Niamh said: “All of the staff and everyone involved in the distillery have worked hard since we set up the distillery 8 years ago to get to this point. We’re really proud of our win, proud of our products and proud that we are helping to contribute something lasting and positive to our Gaeltacht area. We’re delighted that this prize will help our future development, in the process creating much-needed local jobs and also attracting tourism to the area.”
As winners of the Irish competition, Loch Measc Distillery will advance to compete against other regional champions for the World's Best title in their category at the overall World Whiskies Awards 2025.
This prestigious accolade not only celebrates Loch Measc's current achievements but also sets high expectations for the launch of their first whiskey release this August, positioning the distillery as a rising star in the Irish whiskey landscape.
