Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes are seeking land to build houses in Mayo
A leading property developer is seeking land to develop over 100 houses in Mayo.
Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes have said they are willing to absorb the cost of the Residential Zoned Land Tax to develop housing in Mayo.
The firm currently has 350 houses under construction in a number of counties, including Offaly, Wicklow, Westmeath, Cork and Dublin.
The company welcomes discussions with landowners who wish to sell or explore partnership opportunities that will lead to the rapid development of housing.
“Ireland’s housing crisis demands innovative and immediate solutions,” said Ciaran Fitzpatrick, CEO of Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes.
“The Residential Zoned Land Tax (RZLT) is intended to encourage development, but it also places a financial strain on landowners who may not have the means to build. By absorbing this tax on any land we purchase, we are providing an immediate solution—offering landowners a viable exit while ensuring much-needed housing is developed without delay.”
The RZLT, introduced under the Finance Acts, imposes an annual tax of 3 percent on the market value of undeveloped, residentially zoned land. Only active construction sites and certain agricultural lands qualify for relief.
Mr Fitzpatrick encouraged landowners interested in engaging with the company to contact them as soon as possible.
