It was the first time the event was staged in the North-West, and both Breaffy National School and Saint Attracta’s National School in Charlestown travelled to Sligo for the event.

In the end, two schools were chosen to progress to the national final, with Breaffy’ students travelling to Cork for the National Deciders on February 27.

In addition to qualifying, the school was also awarded the Skills Challenger Award from the judging panel.  The judges rewarded the students for their exceptional teamwork and problem solving, as well as strong coding and engineering skills.

VEX Robotics is a programme designed to encourage young people to take an interest in STEM through hands on robotics challenges.
