Mayo food businesses win big at Good Food Ireland Awards

Mayo winners Frankie Mallon (An Port Mór) and Sean and Shauna Kelly (Kelly's Butchers).

Multiple food businesses, all of which are located throughout Co Mayo, were honoured greatly at the prestigious Good Food Ireland Awards, which took place on Monday, November 11.

The awards were located at The K Club, a stunning five star hotel in Co Kildare, and they aim to celebrate the businesses at every layer of the country's food and drink industry.

From primary producers, to manufacturers, chefs, shops, and restaurants, those who embody all that makes Ireland’s food offering so incredible, the awards wish to shine light on.

Westport's very own An Port Mór was awarded the most coveted title, Restaurant of the Year. The business prides itself on the warm and welcoming atmosphere, friendly and efficient service, and of course, their deliciously fresh Irish food and ingredients, so it is safe to say this honour is no surprise.

Along with this, Kelly's of Newport received two exciting awards. The butcher's was chosen as not only Meat Producer of the Year, but also was awarded Overall Producer of the Year.

The core emphasis of the Good Food Ireland Awards is the use of local, fresh, and, seasonal Irish ingredients, hoping to highlight tourism, hospitality and retail businesses that prioritise local produce. This in turn supports Irish farmers, food producers and fishermen, sustainably strengthening local economies and communities.

Congratulations to the winners!
