The annual Joyce Country Truck Run and Light Show will return to Mayo.
The event, in aid of Cancer Care Tuam, will take place on December 7 from Maam Cross Mart at 5pm.
The event is set to take the Joyce Country into a dazzling display of lights and festivities with a convoy of truck cabs departing from Maam Cross Mart at 5pm travelling to Cong village passing through Maam Valley, Maam, Cornamona, Cloughbreac Clonbur and finishing at the Crossroads Community Center in Cong Village.
Showing great interest in the event as per usual will be the support from the Connemara people and their eagerness to help local and national charities with Tuam Cancer Care benefiting from the funds raised from this year’s event.
Paddy Rock and Ray Mc Hugh, organisers of the event, have said that this event has become well established on the calendar of fundraising events and continues to grow in popularity each year.
When asked where the idea came from, Mr Rock said he ‘always had it in his mind that he would love to make an Irish version of the Coca-Cola Christmas ad’.
Speaking from the route was his fellow organiser, Mr McHugh called events like the Joyce Country Truck Run are ‘vital’ in order to raise funds for these charities as ‘they work wholly from fundraising and donations’.
The event is open to articulated lorry cabs, smaller trucks such as refrigerated six wheelers, delivery trucks and the odd tractor with no trailers to be permitted.
An entry fee of €50 applies and can be paid on the day or added through the iDonate page.
For more information on how to register for the event and most importantly how to donate, please contact joycecountrytruckrun2021@gmail.com or see the Facebook and iDonate pages.
