Male pedestrian dies after being hit by a vehicle near Balla

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Balla. 

Shortly before 11.00pm last night (October 1, 2024) gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Local county councillor Donna Sheridan described the man’s passing as ‘very sad’ for the community. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward. They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigate Gardaí.
