The cyclists who cycled the Tony Golden Memorial Cycle in memory of former garda Tony Golden from Ballina
A memorial cycle in memory of Ballina native Garda Tony Golden has raised over €12,000 for charity.
The Tony Golden Memorial Cycle, which arrived in Ballina after travelling from Blackrock, Co Louth, enjoyed serene weather conditions as it raised funds for Breast Cancer Ireland.
The 240-kilometre cycle has been run since 2016 in memory of Garda Golden, who was killed in the line of duty in 2015.
While travelling from Longford to Ballina on the second day of the cycle, the group stopped at Colm Horkan Memorial Pitch in Charlestown.
Opened early this year, the facility was named in honour of former Charlestown footballer Garda Colm Horkan, who was also killed while on duty in 2020.
