The organisers of this year's Irish Pub of the Year awards are continuing to reveal the regional winners in the categories left up for grabs.
The latest category to be revealed today was the Outstanding Customer Service category and the winner of the Connaught category has been revealed as the Barrell and Castle pub and restaurant in Castlebar.
In a social media post, the Barrell and Castle stated: “We are absolutely delighted for all our team to get such huge recognition within the first 6 months of opening!”
The proprietors of the venue are Joe and Marian O'Malley from Westport, who also run Cosy Joe's and the Porter House in Westport. The business officially opened back at the end of march.
There are five more category nominations to be revealed before end of September on the following dates:
September 19: Best Match Day Pub
September 20: Best Music Pub
September 23: Best Outdoor Space
September 25: Best Digital Innovator
September 27: Best Late Night Bar.
Another Mayo pub, Nevin's Newfield Inn in Tiernaur, has already been nominated in the Innovative Pub of the Year category.
